Registration for Library programs requires a current library card from Skokie Public Library or a registered card from your "home" library. After you enter your card number and your last name to "log in" to the online calendar, your full name, phone number, and email address will automatically appear in the sign-up form as it currently appears in your Library account. You will be able to verify the information without having to type it every time you sign up for a program. This will improve accuracy and speed the registration process. If you call to register for a program, please have your Library card number ready for a staff member to enter for you.

An Afternoon with Ice Skater Nicolette House

 Firgure skater and skating coach Nicolette House has written a children's novel called Maddie Takes the Ice, in which Madison Albright is one of the most confident skaters, but the pressure builds as she prepares for the regional championship. A jealous skater is prepared to do whatever it takes to knock Madison from the competition. The book was an America's Battle of the Books Selection for 2011. At this fun-filled event, Nicolette, a recent DePaul University graduate, will share information on how she trains, her diet, her experiences, and her career ups and downs, offering a look at the life of a competitive figure skater.
The event will be held at the Skokie Ice Arena, 9300 Weber Park Place in Skokie. Following the free presentation, kids can skate with Nicolette and learn a few skating tricks. Skaters will need to pay the arena’s open skating fee if they choose to skate with Nicolette. If ice skates are needed, they are available to rent. Copies of Nicolette’s books will be for sale and autographing . Recommended for grades K-8. No registration is required.
