A senior at Glenbrook North High School, Garrett Chou has been playing the cello since he was five. He was selected to be a member of the 2013 National Youth Orchestra USA's inaugural season, and performed in Washington, DC, Moscow, St. Petersburg, and London. Garrett has won first place in the 2013 Society of American Musicians Senior Cello Division, as well as the 2012 DePaul Concerto Festival, earning the opportunity to solo with the Oistrach Symphony Orchestra. He is a chamber musician and has been a member of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra. Garrett currently studies cello with David Cunliffe.Library: Skokie Public Library
A freshman at Niles North High School, Joy studies piano with Martha Yelenosky. She received a full scholarship to attend the Conservatorio Nacional de Musica Julian Aguirre, Argentina in the summers of 2011 and 2013. She has also participated in the Duo Piano Festivals at the Music Institute of Chicago and the Stony Brook (NY) Piano Festival, among others. She has performed in Argentina and New York City, as well as locally. Joy is also a singer in musical theater productions and is a member of a six-piano ensemble.
